Post Thumbnail

It feels like the moment the clock ticked over to September, the leaves on the trees started turning brown and the temperature dropped ten degrees. But believe it or not, now is a great time to escape! With the summer holiday crowds gone, and the prices dropping, it’s not just the trees that are experiencing fall. Some like it hot, while others like to keep their cool – but whatever you prefer, we’ve found a destination that you can jet off to right now!

Our days soaking up the sun on European beaches are numbered, so it’s time to welcome the city break. Offering enough sunshine to enjoy an al fresco Aperol, but cool enough to be able to comfortably explore cobbled city streets, the charming city of Seville enjoys temperatures of up to 17°C even in December! So, there’s not even a rush to book your flights in order get your final fix of vitamin D.

If you think of beer, bikes and boats when someone says the words ‘city break’, chances are you are thinking of Amsterdam. Offering all these things in abundance, and much more, the capital of the Netherlands is a hub of culture, art, and history – meaning there truly is something for everyone to enjoy. Discover Anne Frank House, sip beer beside the canals, or hop on a bike – an efficient way to warm up, while exploring the city a little faster than you could on foot.

We can’t deny that we’re attempting to prolong summer for as long as possible, to do so though, we may have to venture a little further – enter Dubai. A metropolis dividing the desert and the sea, this Arab city is a favourite with the rich and famous who are just unwilling to accept that summer is over! Spend your days relaxing on the beach and your nights sampling international cuisine at rooftop bars, while you mix with the stars.

After busy summers, we all need to dedicate some time to switching off and tuning into nature. One of the best places to do so is Canada – with its vast woodlands filled with crimson-coloured maple trees and wide-open spaces with amber leaves on the ground, the nation is the epitome of autumn. Try heading to Quebec City, or Montreal where you will truly fall for ‘fall’ in Canada.

You don’t have to fly for hours to get your last fix of vitamin D for the year, the Canaries still have plenty of sunshine to go around. Temperatures stick around the twenties until December, so you’ll even have plenty of time to save up! We love Lanzarote for its fabulous beaches and authentic Spanish vibe! It’s just like being in the Med in July – but twice as sweet because you know you’re leaving the cold at home!

Sometimes you need a city break to give you everything: great food, views, time beside the calming sounds of lapping water and mesmerising sites to visit. This is where Venice comes in, and we think the city is at its best in autumn. With summer crowds dissipating, the big attractions are quieter, allowing you the time and space to see it all without hordes of people. The city offers up those crisp autumnal days: bright sunshine, but with a cooling sea breeze coming off the water. What a refreshing way to finish summer!
